Go West Comedy

English Comedy Showcase

Spendenbasiert.

Go West is a new English-language standup comedy showcase every second Wednesday of the month at the AHA! Your hosts Ben MacLean (Canada), Yannick Geske (Germany) and Simone Hudson (New Zealand) bring you a night of laughs starring the best comedians from Berlin’s English comedy scene. Donations welcome.

Schöneberg’s number-one English comedy night is back with an improved showcase format in an awesome new venue, the legendary AHA! And did we mention it’s free?! (Though donations are welcome.) Just a few minutes from Yorckstraße, Kleistpark and Julius-Leber-Brücke stations!

Ben MacLean (Canadian bureaucrat turned flight attendant/comedian… it’s complicated) is your host this month as we bring you three of Berlin’s best comics …

Scott McBurney is a comedian from Scotland. He reached global fame in the early 90s after a brief stint dating Michael Jackson during his time as an internationally renowned child actor. After overcoming a particularly nasty opiate addiction in the early 00s, he’s now on the straight and narrow, entertaining tens of people every month on the Berlin comedy scene. His mother describes him as a “must see”.

Marne Litfin: New Yorker by birth and Berliner by sheer force of will, Marne Litfin is difficult to spell but easy to Google. A newcomer to comedy, Marne was a farmhand and got paid to harvest mussels off a barge before finding stand up in 2016. Marne was a So You Think You're Funny semi-finalist in 2017.

And your headliner…

Born and brought up in Bombay, India, renowned chai drinker Rohit Bhatia (Rohit Bhatia Comedy) has made a mark in Berlin’s comedy scene with his acerbic wit, thought-provoking material, and his blessed face. A journalist and writer in his past lives, he has spent the last five years immigrating to Germany – a process that still has not reached its conclusion.

Rohit's observations about living in Europe have evoked joy, mirthfulness, empathy and, on occasions, manic rage. His material covers a wide variety of topics including race relations, cultural appropriation, foreign policy, immigration, and religious persecution in correlation with waking up too early. In addition to the local press, he has been featured on BBC Radio and in The Guardian.

Rohit has performed in cities across Germany, India, Sweden and Finland. A regular on Berlin’s comedy circuit, he runs a fortnightly comedy show in Kreuzberg. He also performs in German, and is currently the only Indian comedian to do so.
