Go West Comedy

English Comedy Showcase

Spendenbasiert.

Schöneberg's number-one (and longest-running) English comedy night takes the stage once a month at the fabulous AHA. Your hosts Ben MacLean (Canada) and Simone Hudson (New Zealand) bring you a night of laughs starring the best comedians from Berlin's English comedy scene. And did we mention it's free?! (Though donations are welcome.)

You'll also have a chance to win fun prizes at Berlin's craziest halftime quiz. It's crazy because it's so easy you could practically do it in your sleep!

This month our hand-picked comics who'll be bringing the funny are:

  • Lisa Frischemeier is a stand-up comedian based in Berlin. She is German, her accent unplaceable. One audience member said after a show, »She doesn’t cut to the bone, she cuts right through it.« She'd never heard that expression before, but had a feeling it was just right.
Lisa is a semi-finalist of this year’s So You Think You're Funny? competition in the UK. She also hosts and produces Witch Hunt, a quarterly showcase for women in stand-up, improv, storytelling and variety.
  • Joe von Hutch is an editor at Siegessäule and DADDY Magazine who also writes smut. In addition to stand-up comedy he's a cast-writer for the Late-Ish Show at Comedy Café Berlin. He lives in Berlin with his German husband and their angry Chihuahua.
  • Amelia Jane Hunter: Like a twelve thousand pound Orca calmly plotting revenge on its SeaWorld oppressors, Amelia Jane Hunter is no ordinary comedian.
Originally from Australia, Amelia now lives and loves in the land of bone structure, broad shoulders and smouldering eye contact; Berlin. Touring the expansive girth of Europe finding and funding perverted love, true crime and culinary frights, Amelia is is on a quest towards radical inclusion, kindness and the perfect sausage condiment.
Producer and host of Berlin's monthly storytelling show, Stories with Spine, Amelia is riveting, ribald and completely uncensored. A trained actor, her comedy and solo shows have earned accolades and collected awards around the world.
»A highly intelligent woman who hasn't got herself married off with children by her forties living a life of eloquent and inspiring adventure« — Theatre Review NZ 2018
»On stage she is a force of nature: aggressive, confident, in your face and opinionated. She prowls the stage like a caged animal as she tells her tales of a world that restricts such a free spirit. It’s wonderful to witness her storytelling in person« — Squirrel Comedy Australia 2017
»Raw, outrageous, completely unapologetic and enthralling to watch« — UK Comedy Guide
